May 25, 2023 11:00 CST - Fresh Supply is honored to officially announce our selection as a grant recipient from the Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities (PSPC). Our organization is one of 253 grassroots orgs to receive over $2.5 million in grants from PSPC’s 8th annual Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities. This funding will support Fresh Supply's summer programs & initiatives, including "THE SUMMER PROGRAM" and the newly launched "Connect D.O.T.S" (Digital Outreach to Transform Safety) initiative.
"THE SUMMER PROGRAM" is a justice-centered learning framework that empowers youth as digital stewards, emphasizing communication as a fundamental human right and community technologies tailored to local needs. In 2022, program participants made history by launching the Garfield Park Community Hotline, the first SMS community hotline developed by Chicago youth.
Building upon the successes of Summer 2022, THE SUMMER PROGRAM 2023, Fresh Supply will integrate vital communications into the hotline, ensuring cultural relevance and accessibility through the "Connect D.O.T.S" initiative. Working with impactful community organizations like Breakthrough Urban Ministries and the Garfield Park Rite to Wellness Collaborative, students will collaborate on digital design practices to enhance the platform's effectiveness and further support the initiatives community organizations—who play a crucial role in fostering a safer Garfield Park and Chicago.
Fresh Supply aims to nurture a generation of leaders capable of addressing community challenges using innovative, justice-centered approaches.
